The spoilers for Magic 2012 (M12) keep on coming and many cool cards have been spoiled in the past week or so. If you are fans of Magic the gathering, then you must be heard about Jace, Memory adept cards which is confirmed as blue’s new mythic planeswalker presence for the Magic: The Gathering 2012 Core Set.

Card Type: Planeswalker

Subtype: Jace

Loyalty: 4

Artist: D. Alexander Gregory

Rarity: Mythic Rare
Card Text:

[+1] Draw a card. Target player puts the top card of his or her library into his or her graveyard.

[-0] Target player puts the top ten cards of his or her library into his or her graveyard.

[-7] Any numbers of target players each draw twenty cards.

If this is any good in Standard, it will solely be for the first ability, because that’s its best function. (Look, Ajani Goldmane syndrome strikes again!) Sadly, it is very likely outclassed by Consecrated Sphinx and believes it or not Azure Mage, so I do not expect it to do too much.

Regress of its expensive price, there is still a lot of ability on these cards. First one is its way into many decks. What will make this one stand out however is how good he is for milling decks. Secondly, his second ability hits hard and can act as a great finisher for any milling deck out there. However making one of the game’s coolest Planeswalkers into a mill engine seems like kind of a waste. All in all, this card is solid and should see constructed play. Just don’t expect to see him banned this time around. Everything is perfectly except for some trouble with Jace. He will not be out quick, without some sort of ramp, so there is time to set up, and plan around him.
