The best of the new planeswalkers, it has one major flaw for now, and that is not costing 4 mana. Having to pay triple-green is also very prohibitive (although we will likely get an allied-color land cycle in Innistrad) and limits his options. He’ll see play, it’s just a question of whether or not the decks that want him will be good enough when the other decks are ramping past the 5-slot.

Not only does Garruk’s first ability plus-one his loyalty, but it also produces a 3/3 green Beast token, which was formerly a minus-one ability. Put a 3/3 green Beast creature token onto the battlefield. Except this time around it won’t cost you any loyalty.  Instead, it’ll gain you loyalty! He protects himself. It will allow you to Hunter’s Insight without attacking.  With a Garruk, Primal Hunter on the battlefield you can drop Garruk’s Horde and draw a full new hand of seven cards!

For just one greener mana than Garruk Wildspeaker, M12’s Garruk Primal Hunter gives green players something they rarely receive: card advantage. Put a 6/6 green Wurm creature token onto the battlefield for each land you control. If you’re able to make the 6/6 green Wurm token and then activate the card-drawing ability, you’ve already won anyway.

Gripped with a need to test his might and resolve against ever greater challenges, his life’s calling has become an endless hunt of the most ferocious and dangerous game that each plane can offer. Somebody said that Garruk is the best of the planeswalkers both old and new.
